This image has been through a lot from completely losing it through not properly ejecting a flash drive and working with an emailed image from my phone. The end result turned out much more interesting then I anticipated and the dragging through the mud added a pleasant texture.
Titled: "Fame"
However the image is much more dynamic/successful only partly in words.

Your self-portrait is amazing! Your usage of the distortion filter (I assume it was distortion, anyway...?) is great--I can instantly see the curls and waves of your hair as well as the contours of your face. The only issue I see in this image is the background. The florescent light and wall is an eyesore compared to the lively typeface portrait you created. I think it would have been more successful if you had replaced that background with either a solid color or very simple gradient. Nonetheless--very nice Photoshop application for this assignment!
ReplyDeleteThe latter piece is nice, but not as nice as your first portrait. I like the color you chose in the first image but there is a significant lack of text for her highlights--that much negative space reads as missing pieces rather than a whole. The second image is more successful than the first, but the text/image ratio isn't the true 2:1 typeface ratio--the image is overpowering the text, therefore not making it a true typeface portrait. In the first one, you take away the text and there wouldn't be an image at all. In the second, take out the text and you still get a sense that there is a woman there, just highly contrasted. Get what I'm saying? This would have been awesome if you had blended the two together!
I'm sorry if my comment was a bit extensive--I really like how your work came out in the end! :)
Nice story on the first one, glad you got it finished after all that! Did you loose the sharper version where all the text is in focus? I'd be interested to see that too because it is so specific in the application of text. n
ReplyDeleteVery well done on the first one. I also agree with you on the second. I do believes it works better and is more dynamic with only partly done in words. The other is still visually interesting though.
