These are both great--love the contrast of text against the black slate with those touches of color at the corners. However, I find the yellow text in the second portrait to be a bit too noisy--the edges around the letters is rough compared to the smooth cursive on the rest of his face. Or maybe it's the different font types you chose to use that's throwing me off--I'm a fan of repetition. :P Nevertheless, the brush/gradient effect you used to shadow around his eyes and nostrils, as well as other parts, really add definition to his portrait. Nice job, Derrick!
